1. O INTRODUCTION

 

The course provides an introduction to the underlying physical principles applied in agricultural engineering, which incorporates machinery, structures, processing and water use. It is an engineering approach to multi-disciplinary subject, and aims to provide a foundation for all the disciplines.

 

2.0 Course Objectives

 

By the end of the course, students shall;

 

  • Have an overview of the field of agricultural engineering and its place in Agriculture and its context in the growth and development in Africa.
  • Be familiar with key engineering concepts which include conservation of mass, conservation of energy, and laws of motion
  • Be able to equip students with an understanding of the physical and thermodynamic properties of air water-vapor mixtures for the design of environmental control systems for plants, animals and human beings.
  • Be able to carry out simple surveys and mapping
