1.0.Course Description

The course examines the concepts, philosophies, theories, institutions, politics and practical challenges of public policy making. Policy experiences within local, regional and global environments are used throughout the course as illustrative cases. Its substantive goal is to enable students relate conceptual and theoretical constructs to policy practices within African contexts and the Third world in general. Students should be able to interrogate and explain how the interaction of intra and extra factors influence and shape the nature of policy making and policy practices in the African postcolonial state. Appreciation of the realities in African settings is therefore imperative.
